CreditRepairCompanies.com strives to maintain the integrity of the reviews that we provide for local and national credit repair companies. We base our reviews on a thorough study of the website. We would like to call each company and do a more in-depth interview for those companies that are interested. Once we have completely vetted a company, we will also include their contact information and allow them to add a short information paragraph about themselves. If the company doesn’t have their contact information included we can’t put our full stamp of approval on their services. Due to the sheer volume of companies out there, we rely on our community to leave ratings feedback and comments on the company profiles with which they have had experience.

If you are coming here for the first time and are looking for advice on which credit repair company to go with here are some general guidelines.

1) Make sure they list their price. If their isn’t a price listed in their profile, that means that they are trying to hide the fact that they use high pressure sales tactics on the phone once you call in. It also probably means that they are going to charge you a large lump sum charge with no real guarantee that they will perform the services that they promise.

2) Avoid companies that guarantee results. Credit repair is not an exact science and a credit repair company that promises that they can get items removed off of your credit report is lying to you and also violating federal statute. Many companies will talk about the average consumer experience, but if a company makes specific claims about your situation, run the other way.

3) Avoid any service that advises you to misrepresent your credit score or credit history to your current or future creditors or to the credit bureaus. Not only is this illegal but it is completely ineffective in your goal of improving your credit score.

4) Never work with a credit repair company that wants you to alter your identity or apply for an EIN (Employer Identification Number) in order to establish a fresh credit history. Once again this is completely illegal and is explicitly covered in the federal statute that regulates credit repair companies.

5) A legitimate credit repair company will never ask you for payment first before they perform credit repair services for you. Typically, a company will charge you for the service 3-5 days after you sign up for the service. If the company charges a monthly fee, they will charge you for the month’s service at the end of the month.

6) Carefully consider credit repair companies before making a final decision. Many consumers opt for a credit repair company that has been in business for longer periods of time and have the experience of working with many clients. Consider whether you want your credit repair company to be a law firm. Working with a law firm gives you the additional assurance that they are registered with the legal bar association in their state and may have additional legal expertise that other companies don’t have.
